the garments component of Aleya’s practice revealed itself gradually, but turned out to be there the whole time. with a mother obsessed by an artisan outlook, from cakes to curtains to clothes, patterns were bestowed through generations and regain life through a mixture of curiosity, tinkering, and originality. now, they manifest as fanciful regalia for models and muses, seen in a number of Aleya’s more recent shoots.
